These Terms of Service govern your use of Rare Footprints, including its endangered-wildlife reference material, local observation tools, sharing features, web experience, and in-app purchases.
Educational purpose
Rare Footprints provides educational and organizational information. Species suggestions, conservation status, habitat descriptions, and identification results may be incomplete or inaccurate and are not a substitute for advice from wildlife authorities, rescue organizations, veterinarians, researchers, or emergency services.
Responsible wildlife observation
You agree to observe wildlife lawfully and responsibly. Do not disturb, feed, capture, handle, pursue, bait, injure, remove, trade, or reveal sensitive locations of threatened or endangered animals. Maintain a safe distance, respect protected areas and seasonal restrictions, and follow instructions from local authorities and conservation staff.
Your content
You remain responsible for observation notes, photographs, recordings, locations, comments, and other content you add or share. You must have the right to use that content and must not upload unlawful, misleading, abusive, infringing, or privacy-invasive material. Review photographs and location details before sharing them.
Acceptable use
You may not use Rare Footprints to facilitate poaching, trafficking, harassment, unauthorized surveillance, habitat damage, illegal collection, or commercial exploitation of protected wildlife. You may not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass security, reverse engineer protected service components, or misuse another person's account or data.
Location safety
Exact locations of rare species can create conservation risks. Use location-hiding features where appropriate. You are responsible for deciding whether an observation location is safe and lawful to record, export, or disclose.
Web features and third-party services
Some features may load web content or rely on Apple and other service providers. Their availability and separate terms may apply. External links are provided for convenience, and Rare Footprints is not responsible for third-party content or services.
In-app purchases
Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment and refund rules. Product availability and pricing may vary by storefront. Transactions may remain pending while Apple or the service verifies them.
Availability and changes
Features may be changed, suspended, or discontinued for maintenance, security, legal, conservation, or operational reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that every species record, remote page, or identification result will always be available.
Disclaimer and liability
Rare Footprints is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. You are responsible for outdoor safety, legal compliance, backups, and decisions made using the app. We are not responsible for harm caused by approaching wildlife, entering unsafe locations, disclosing sensitive species data, or relying solely on an automated identification.
Termination
Access may be restricted when these terms are violated, when use threatens people or wildlife, or when required for security or legal compliance. You may stop using the service and clear local app data at any time.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the app, conservation guidance, or applicable law changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms where permitted by law.
